Sierra Leone Association of Commercial Banks (SLACB) Support to the Government of Sierra Leone, in recognition of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

On Friday 24th April 2026, Members of SLACB presented corporate gifts to the Government of Sierra Leone worth hundreds of thousands of Leones. At a ceremony held at the State House, Ms. Shola Taylor-Pearce, Head of the SLACB Secretariat, stated that the Member Banks of SLACB specifically: Bank for Africa Sierra Leone, First Bank Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Rokel Commercial Bank, Sky Bank SL, Commerce and Mortgage Bank SL, Bloom Bank for Africa Sierra Leone, Zenith Bank Sierra Leone, Guaranty Trust Bank Sierra Leone, Access Bank Sierra Leone, Vista Bank Sierra Leone, Ecobank Sierra Leone and Union Trust Bank, were very delighted to support the Government in this manner. She commended the visionary leadership of His Excellency the President, Retired Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the open door policy of the Minister of Finance, the Honorable Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura and the even and steady hand of the Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ibrahim Stevens.
The Vice President of SLACB, Mr. Udeme O. Udoh stated that the Association was donating approximately 2,000 mugs, 2,000 flasks and 2,000 caps, all branded with the logos of each Member Bank, plus the 65th Independence Day logo. In addition, he stated that banks had committed to adorning their banking halls, edifices and leased round abouts with the national colours. The gifts were received by staff of the Office of Secretary to the President and in their response the Press Secretary, thanked the SLACB for its generosity.
The event was colourful and joyful as over thirty senior executives from all thirteen member banks, dressed in national colours, sang the national anthem, at the close of the ceremony.
